I have a 100’ ethernet cable wired correctly. When I plug it in from my router to homebase the light will turn blue for a minute then back to red. I know this cable works because I ohmed all the individual wires so whats going on?
You might have a connection issue that’s letting in outside interference so that data transmitted over your cable is getting corrupted. Just doing an ohm check doesn’t tell you what is happening at the frequencies data is traversing the cable. They make special cable testers to test ethernet cables by sending test data and checking it for errors.
If you are testing the cable then I assume you are a bit IT tech savvy. Does your router/switch give you stats like errors/corrupt packets? As preset says, it can be interference on a long network cable. Does it do the same on a short cable?
