Hi Just installing my new video doorbell, I will want the chime / Homebase unit in a different location to my router, will it work without the Ethernet cable plugged into it and the router?

Hi, I believe the you only really need the Ethernet cable to set up the Homebase unit during initial installation. Once it’s set up you should be able to relocate to a different location and the base will use WiFi!

Yes, use the Ethernet cable to set it up, then you can move the homebase to convenient location inside your house. The doorbell connects via low power wifi to the homebase and the homebase connects to your home wifi. This helps keep a stronger wifi signal to the doorbell.
